I realize I am a "digital native," but I honestly don't feel like one. I was raised with technology and use it a lot. It is just that I don't think I act like other digital natives do. The ones that can't do things without the help of technology (like how to write a letter) or are busy texting all of the time when they are with people, I just can't relate to that. Personally I think it is important to be able to do almost anything business type thing without the use of technology and honestly it is just rude to be texting someone else when you are hanging out with someone. It may just be how I was raised but I don't like when people do that. My parents had always stressed to me that yes we are in a digital age but this stuff matters too. Mainly because you never know when you'll need to do it. You never know when you need to write a thank you note or a business letter. Not everything can be done digitally either. Some things are just better when they are hand written.
On the topic of texting when talking to people. Well that is just rude. You are with the person you are hanging out because you are friends and want to. Why would you text people when you are with them? It is rude to not be socializing with the other person. That goes for phone calls and computers too. There are instances when you have to take a phone call or text, but excuse yourself first. Let them know that it is important and then quickly take the call. Basically on this one follow the basic rule of "Don't be a d"
